Next GTT Halifax Meeting March 21 all about smart tvs.

Hello all.. The nEXt GTT meeting will be held on Tuesday,March 21 from 6:00 to 7:30PM at APSEA 5944 South Street in the Cafeteria . Annex.

I thought that I would share this information with all of you. Barbara and I have purchased this32 inch TV and will provide an audio demonstration at our March 21 meeting.

I first heard about the TV on a Mystic Access podcast. Barbara and I made several enquiries to both Best Buy and Samsung and were informed that this model was not available in Canada Finally, one Samsung customer Service representative told us to hold and that he would check to see if it was available under a different model number. It was. .

Next GTT Halifax meeting will take place on Tuesday October 18 from 6 to 7:30 PM.

Hello everyone. The Halifax based Access & Awareness NS Chapter of the Canadian Council of the Blind will be holding its first “Get Together With Technology (GTT)” session on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria annex at the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA), 5944 South St., Halifax. This session will again involve exchanging knowledge, tips, general information and ideas regarding any technologies used by us in our daily lives. In particular, this session will focus on the Script Talker from Envision America, used by those who are blind or who have low vision to identify medications. This service is now available from Shoppers Drug Mart upon request. John Den Hollander will demonstrate the device and explain how he went about obtaining this service.

On July 29 Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition which has significant accessibility improvements. Persons using Assistive Technology may still update to windows 10 free of charge. by going to:

I will bring my Tablet and demonstrate some of the new features of Narrator- the built-in Screen Reader that comes with Windows.

There are also a number of other exciting topics that we can discuss.

On September 13 Apple has released new software updates for the I Devices, Apple TV 4th Generation, and the Apple watch. The iPhone 7, iPod 7, will also be available as well as the Series 2 Apple Watch.
